What are Clinical Trials?

Uncategorized No Comment

When you are faced with a diagnosis it may be in your interest to check out the clinical trials associated with your condition or disease. The website to search for trials and learn more about them is via ClinicalTrials.gov. The website is maintained by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

You might think to yourself why would I want to participate in a clinical trial? Well, there are many reasons clinical trials are important and some of them are: helping with medical advances, discovering new ways to prevent, detect, or treat disease, and improving the quality of life for people with chronic illnesses. As the NIH states, the goal of clinical trials are to determine if a new test or treatment works and is safe. Check out the trials website and ask your physician and care team what might be appropriate for you.
